Ludhiana, October 12 -The Ludhiana (Rural) police have solved the mystery behind the death of a girl at Barsal village on October 7. The victim girl was found hanging with the ceiling fan in her house on October 7. The incident came to light when the mother of the victim girl saw her hanging with the ceiling fan. Following the incident, the police had initiated inquest proceedings under section 174 of CrPC on the basis of the statement of victim girl’s mother Harbant Kaur. But on October 11, the father of victim girl Baljit Singh told the police that he had gone out of the village for some urgent work and when he returned home, he learnt that one Jaspal Singh alias Pappu s/o Sukhdev Singh of the same village used to do objectionable acts with his daughter. He further informed that on October 7, his son Kala Singh saw Jaspal Singh doing objectionable acts with his daughter and making it a prestige issue Kala Singh strangulated his sister with her duppatta and hanged her dead body with the ceiling fan. On the basis of the statement given by Baljit Singh, the police registered a case under section 302 and 354 of IPC against Kala Singh and Jaspal Singh alias Pappu at Jagraon Sadar police station and arrested them. According to SHO Sadar Raminderjit Singh, during questioning the accused have confessed their crime before the police.
